Beech House

Beech house had one big problem, a gorgeous Georgian house in a great location, apart from the dairy unit right next door! So, it was smelly and noisy, there were a lot of flies, and they needed some screening and shelter. Other than that, it had extensive gardens, with a pool area and a mature orchard. It was all a little disjointed and lacked cohesion. There were two children living there, and one suffered from hay fever, so we had to be careful with the planting suggestions.

The client also wanted something classic and highly fragrant so I designed a formal rose garden parterre scheme. I redesigned the pool area with lush planting, lots of screening trees, a secluded dining area with parasol trees, and a gravel garden with fragrant herbs in abundance right by the kitchen door. I also focused on encouraging natural predators into the garden to help rid the yard of flies. With lots of Bat boxes and Bird boxes throughout, and a wildlife pond to encourage the Birds, Bats and Dragonflies to come and eat the flies. Here I am showing the mood boards I made for the ideas stage. This was a college project and so the images I used on these mood boards are mostly not my own and were downloaded from various sites including Pinterest.
